<itunes:author>Pastor Simon Liversidge</itunes:author>
            <itunes:subtitle></itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Speaking this Sabbath is our Lead Pastor. Jesus tells a very strange parable of an incompetent steward who gets fired but acts wisely by reducing payments to debtors in order to make friends. Jesus says this wise man used material things to make eternal friends. In this story, we learn three principles for living in God's kingdom:

* God's kingdom is always about the kind of person I become.
* God desires for me to use all I have in my earthly kingdom for His kingdom.
* If I cannot use earthly things for God's kingdom, He cannot trust me with heavenly things.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Speaking this Sabbath is our Children's Pastor, as she asks "How's Your Courage?" We rarely think about courage until a moment asks something of us. In Esther 4, a young woman living in exile faces a decision that could cost her everything. We'll explore how courage begins with a decision, grows through surrender, and is cultivated in the presence of God. How might God be preparing ordinary hearts for the moments that matter most?</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Speaking this Sabbath is our Lead Pastor. Jesus is a true prophet, but He also gives the gift of prophecy through His Spirit. Jesus wants everyone to respond, but they don't. Responding, though, means I don't just show up; I take the robe of righteousness Jesus freely offers. <itunes:subtitle></itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Speaking this Sabbath is Simon Liversidge. In Jesus' parable, the Pharisee got his identity from his actions and comparing himself with others. The tax collector knows he has nothing to offer except his need. Jesus says he goes home justified. Jesus is our Savior, but it is hard to keep our eyes on Him. Three things can help us: to know that focus on Jesus is not weakness but strength, salvation is not weakness but strength, and humility is not weakness but strength.</itunes:summary>

In John 10, Jesus takes a common understanding of a good shepherd and adds a big surprise...not only will the Good Shepherd die for His sheep, but He will rise again to give them abundant life. In this parable, we consider three reasons Jesus says He comes to earth: to reveal God and His truth, to offer life through His death, and to build the kingdom of God through His resurrection life.</itunes:summary>

In this story, we also understand three characteristics of humanity: God made humans in His image. We still bear His image but because of sin, our nature is sinful. Through His love, God restored humanity into relationship with Him and invites us daily to live in the image in which He made us to live. Too often we try to make God in our image, while God desires to remake us in His image.</itunes:summary>

In the book of Ephesians, Paul challenges us to consider the ways the presence of God's Spirit changes us individually and collectively. As we see God's glory, we worship Him for His love for us; as we worship Him, we are moved to work and grow together. However, this is never easy as we are waging war against spiritual forces. Yet God's Spirit invites us into this battle.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Speaking this Sabbath is our Children's Pastor. This weekend, we're celebrating all God has done throughout CVC's KidMin Summer and our incredible student leaders. In "Now, Not Later," we'll reflect on how God calls each of us – young and old – into His purpose today, not just someday. Through the story of Elijah and Elisha, we'll explore the power of mentorship, the courage to follow God's call, and what it means to walk in faith even when we feel unqualified. Whether you're a parent, leader, or student, this message will remind you that discipleship is a journey we take together.</itunes:summary>

However, in His death, Jesus also showed us why we need to die to our old self. It doesn't work if we don't. As Jesus washed His disciples' feet, He invited them to see that real power is found in humble service, and that is where we find real love too.</itunes:summary>
